We went over to Spindleruv Myln for the world cup slopestyle comp and was rad! The whole team smashed it and we all made it through to the finals!
Check out the recap edit!
I went over to flacahuwinkl for the Spring Battle comp, this year it was a slopestyle event instead of the usual big air, it was a cool format you filmed the best run on the course and handed that run in. Congrats to Billy on getting 2nd!!! Here is my run that got me 8th:
Been a busy past few weeks with a few competitions one after the other, the first comp being the Shred Down Austrian Masters Slopestyle in Westendorf. The comp went over two days again the first day was on the rails and then the second day on the jumps. The first day went pretty good got my run on the rails, cab 1 back 3, back blunt 270 out, front board 270 that run put me 2nd overall, then on the jumps the next day I did, cab double 9 to back 7, then cab double 9 to back double 10 but just did a little but check on the 10 but still landed it. They added the scores up and I won the rookie category and the overall category so I was pretty stoked to win both!
Here’s the video:
The next comp was the Spring Battle over in Flachauwinkl this year was the first time the comp had done open qualifications so why not go and give it a go. They built a decent sized jump at the top and there were some pretty good riders in the qualis, I had coach Billy Morgan there helping me out he was invited so I wanted to get through to ride with him I managed to land back double 10 in the comp and that put me in 9th to qualify through to the semis so that made my day! The next day was training for all the invited riders I landed my back 10 again and Billy did back triple 14 to get through to the finals. I ended up 17th overall which isn’t to bad with all the guys who were there, Billy ended up winning it with a back triple 16 which was perfect so huge well done to him!!!
My runs from qualis:
The most recent comp was the Vans Hi-Standard on Saturday here in Mayrhofen, it was such a fun comp nothing over a 7 on the jump and all based on style and then a rail jam on the stairset, all the Vans UK crew were out so it was fun riding with all them again. I managed to win the overall category here as well so it was a pretty good day, won some money and had a awesome day what more could you want! We filmed an edit the day before because the weather was meant to come in so we played it safe and filmed that day instead, hope you enjoy it !
Heres the video from the comp:
Last week I got back from my trip down under it was a pretty fun trip riding in New Zealand and Australia, also going around Melbourne for a few days. The trip started off in New Zealand where I was there for just under 3 weeks, unfortunately Snow Park was closed this year which was pretty gutting as it was amazing last year but Cardrona was open and had a decent park. But the weather wasn’t kind pretty much the whole time I was there so I got about a day or two on the jumps which wasn’t too good, it just meant it was rails pretty much every day but they had a good rail line so it wasn’t too bad. After a few weeks I went over to Australia to meet up with the World Rookie Fest guys to go to Thredbo with them to compete in the Rookie Fest comp. They didn’t have a very good season for snow so they could only build two pretty small jumps and a couple of rails for the comp it was a fun little course in my run I did cab 1 on then back board to fakie, switch back 5, back 7 which got me 2nd in the rookie category which I was pretty happy with 🙂
The next day it was the practice day for The Mile High in Perisher which is another resort in Australia, Billy Morgan came over with Hamish and Katie Ormerod, Katie couldn’t compete because she had injured her knee in New Zealand. The course was a lot bigger and way more fun than the park in Thredbo I think they had more snow so the could build bigger jumps, the course was, down rail or donkey kink, flat bar or gap to down, pole jam, and then 3 jumps. I had a really good practice getting my run every time so i was happy with that also doing front 10’s and 9’s already was a bonus because it was just the start of the season for me and I was happy to be doing big tricks so early! My run in the comp was back lip, tailslide 270 out, 50-50 back 3 tail grab, back 5, cab 9, front 7, on my second run I fell over but I was happy with my first. Also well done to Billy Morgan who came 2nd in the slopestyle and 1st in the big air !
We then went to Melbourne for a few days and stayed with Hamish’s family. We first went to the Zoo and saw a lot of cool animals like snow leopards and lions. We also went into Melbourne centre and it’s massive and it was really busy but cool to look around somewhere different and to have some amazing sushi, we then headed to bounce which is a trampoline place and we messed about there for a couple of hours. On the last day we went to watch and Aussie Rules match which is definitely different to any sport in England and anywhere else. It was a really fun trip but glad to be back home now and getting ready to go shred Hintertux!!!
Last Friday was the first day of competition of the Austrian Shred Down Masters Slopestyle in Westendorf. The format was the first day was the jumps and the second day was the rails, the weather was perfect for the jump day, it was so hot and super slushy meaning it was a bit slower into the jumps. We did our practice and then we had three runs to get the best run possible. The jump course was a box into two jumps, my best run was board-slide to switch, cab 9, back 7 and I landed that first run so I was happy about that I then just took it easy on the next two runs and did cab under-flips off the first jump. The next day was rubbish weather it was really cloudy and snowing but it was OK because it was rails and the line was down flat down, down rail and then an up rail or a wall ride my best run was gap to board-slide, cab 270, switch board-slide on the up rail. I came first in my category which is the under 18’s which I was super stoked with as it was my second win at this competition! I also ended up 5th overall! Here are some photos and the video from the event.

In February two comps happened in pretty much the same week at the same resort which was Saalbach Hinterglem. The first comp they had was the Winter Mash which used to be the Wangl Tangl in Mayrhofen. It was a really fun contest as it was a team event and two people in a team, also the it all took place during night which was even cooler! I went with Tobi Strauss another Vans rider but unfortunately he injured himself during practice so I then got paired up with Michi Macho whose partner also got injured during practice. We made it all the way to the semi finals and then got knocked out by team KBR from Finland and in that team was Sami Luhtanen and Janne Lipsanen so some pretty good riders. All the riders decided to split the prize money so each rider got 410 euros!
The next event was the weekend after which was the Glemmbang Slopestyle in Saalbach again Drew Stevenson invited me to the finals so I went along and had a really good time. The course was the same as the Winter Mash course which was, down rail, kicker, kicker or up pipe, wall-ride and then a bunch of boxes at the end. First everyone had to do semi finals to get into the final and it was a jam format and the best two runs counted so I got my two runs out of the way as fast as possible so I could chill for a bit and my first run was half cab 5-0 to back 7 to front 7, nose press the top of the wall then gap back lip on the A frame box then alley oop 3 nose tap on the red bull can. My next run was cab 1 on back 1 off to cab 9, front 7 and then the same rails again. Those two runs qualified me in first place for the finals, the finals was a 1 hour jam session and your best run counted and I think my best run was cab 1 on back 1 off to cab 9, front 7, 50-50 back 3 off on the wall-ride, gap back lip alley oop 3 nose tap. I ended up winning best rookie and the overall event and I won 1000 euros STOKED!!!
I also learnt cab double 9’s the other day that I have wanted to do for ages and finally manned up and did it didn’t take to long to land so check it out
Went over to Westendorf last weekend to do the under 18’s Slopestyle at the Austrian Masters, format was pretty cool – day 1 was Jib day … so just riding the rails and then day 2 was jumps day, 2 jumps, the second one was huge (check out the pic) !
Having done my runs we had to leave early, so couldn’t stay for prize giving ….. later that evening my dad got an email saying I’d won !!
The weather was amazing all weekend and it was such a rad comp, great standard of riding and super chilled, so stoked I won 🙂
Mone put together this little edit of some of the footage they got – thanks Mone !
Last Thursday me and my dad went over to Laax for the BEO, when we got there we met Katie Ormerod and her dad Mark Ormerod. The next day was practice day and the first time I had seen the course and it was, a down rail or up rail into two small jumps that were really close to each other there was only a 2 metre gap between the first landing and the take off for the next jump. After the two small jumps there is another two bigger jumps and then at the end there is the Creative Use Of Space feature which was a wallride into a drop or a pole tap. Or on the other side a close out rail into a stair set with a down bar or a down flat down. On the practice day the weather was perfect bluebird and warm so the course got slow and slushy nearer the end of the day, I got the run I wanted to do during practice just before it started to get slushy which I was happy about. Also on the same day when it got slushy I decided to try some front 9’s which I have never done before and I landed quite a few of them so I was stoked!!!
The next day was qualification and finals day for boys and girls so a lot was happening that day. I was in heat 1 and dropped second to last which was quite a good position to drop, In my first run I did 50-50 back 1 off into cab 5 mute to back 3 tail into back 7 mute into front 7 melon then into 50-50 front 3 on the close out to back lip on the down rail, but I fell on the front 7 because I went to big. On my second run I did the same and landed the front 7 which put me second in my heat which got me through to the final in 2nd place for my heatand 4th place overall from both heats which was pretty good.
In the final I did the same run for my first and second runs, just tried to improve the run on the second attempt and then went for the front 9 on the thirid run but put my hand down which I was a bit gutted about but it is a new trick so I need to work on it a bit more. In the end I came 9th which is pretty good at the BEO to be in the top 10 so I was stoked!!!
Also Katie came 3rd in the girls slopestyle and 2nd the day after in halfpipe so a massive well done to her. Today Jamie Nicholls qualified for finals with a sick run and then on his second run did an amazing scorpion not when landing on a jump but just doing a speed check after the first rail but still well done for qualifying Jamie! I am back in Mayrhofen now and there are some fun comps coming up like the Volcom Peanut Butter Rail Jam and the world longest rail attempt at Gerlos which will be good fun!!!
Heres a couple more pics from Jon Weaver (thanks Jon) and my dad.
