Back in April I went to Seven Springs to Snowboarder Magazines SuperPark 19. I went over and rode with Jamie Nicholls, the setups that each resort had built were sick! The Streets rail setup was really fun to ride loads of different features.
Stoked to get a shot in this edit from the Seven Springs setup, Check it out!
Also we got some photos on the features whilst there for The Reason Magazine here are a couple taken by Mark Clavin,
I have been back in London for the past week or so for two rail jams the first one was the O’neill Shoreditch Showdown. I drove over from Austria to do the comp, In the morning I went to the Oakley HQ which was sick to see all the new goggles and sunglasses they are making. Then, mid afternoon we went over to the place where the comp was being held, the setup was really good bit different but fun to ride loads of different options to hit and get creative. So after qualis they picked the top 12 riders for the finals which I managed to get in to so I was pretty happy about that! Then in the final everyone killed it, I didn’t make it to the top 4 but I had fun and was stoked to see everyone ! Here is a quick edit Will Nangle made from the event:
After the comp I went back up North to see my family and have a go on my uncles quad bike around his farm and chopped some wood for the fires which was a good few days to chill before going back down to London for the Freeze Fest. I first went to Milton Keynes and stayed with Chris Chatt to ride and get warmed for the comp. I then got on a train to Clapham Common for the Freeze to practice on the setup for the Battle of Britain comp. The setup was sick and was quite big as well which was cool and it made it more challenging plus there were lots of gaps to rails to do to get creative, Everyone killed it in the B.O.B comp and the top ten made finals and the top 4 made it to the international. I made it into the international comp with all the sick riders like Kas Lemmens and Wojtek so I was so stoked just to be riding with them guys! Jamie Nicholls smashed it as always and won so well done to him ! Here’s a vid from the B.O.B comp:
Back in May I went to the Onboard Send Off Session in Kitzsteinhorn for a week. It was such a sick week riding with a bunch of pros like Markku Koski, Max Buri, Tom Klocker and a load more. The weather was good pretty much the whole time we were there and they had built a sick park for us to ride, a massive hip, a big jump and a load of fun rails for follow cam runs, I rode a lot with Jamie Nicholls and Max Buri and filmed a lot with Tom Elliott. It was definitely the best way to finish off the season before heading back to school to finish off my exams, thanks a lot to everyone at Onboard for such a good week and letting me come out and ride! Here is the video from the whole week check it out ! 🙂
Last week there were some really good weather days where the conditions were perfect to ride jumps QParks were up there for a day filming everyone riding jumps and rails, there are a couple of pros in this edit such as, Werni Stock, Peter Konig and Jamie Nicholls he definitely kills it in this edit I got a shot in it as well of me doing a front ten at 2:03 check it out it’s a sick edit
The past few days have been really good here as well I have been riding with Jamie Nicholls and Kate Ormerod got some good runs on the kickers like cab 9 front ten and cab 9 back ten so pretty happy about that! It’s snowing now so a bit of powder this week hopefully ! 🙂
At the start of December I flew to America with Jamie Nicholls and Nick Atkins and stayed there until the 23rd with the GB team. At the start of the trip the weather wasn’t that good so we just had to ride the rails but they were lacking on snow so the bad was in the end a benefit. Will Nangle was also out there and I spent a day filming with him in Keystone and the edit will be out soon! Me and Jamie also went and hit a perfect street spot with Nangle filming and Nick Atkins taking photos it was a sick session on a down bar and donkey kink next to each other and we got some sick shots on film and photos!
About three days before I left I tried a standing back flip which I had already done before but this time I fell on my face and bit my lip pretty bad and had to get stitches so stupid haha! Also the last couple of days were the best weather and they had a really nice jump a Keystone so I went there and I learnt cab 10’s so I was stoked that I learnt a new trick after being in hospital. On the last day me and Billy Morgan did a couple of laps through the rails filming with the new GoPro 3 the edit is at the bottom 🙂 I flew back to Mayrhofen on Christmas Eve and had a sick day riding the pistes and got some cool presents as well! New Years Eve is always a good one here a crazy amount of fireworks!
After Modena we got the train back to Austria which was pretty cool had our own cabin and big leather chairs. It had dumped up at Tux so I went up
and rode some powder for a few days with Tom West and Cheryl Maas which was so much fun! Me, my dad and Jamie Nicholls left Mayrhofen on Wednesday night to Dachstein because Thursday was an all day practice. The course was quite small about a 7 metre jump to a 13 metre jump to either a flat rail or a rainbow rail and then a wall-ride. I had a sick day practice riding with Jamie Nicholls, Aimee Fuller, Cheryl Maas and Mathias Weissenbacher. Next day was qualification and I was in heat 3 my 1st run was cab under-flip, front 7, tail-slide 270 and 50-50 back 3 over the wall-ride which score
d me 62. On my second run I did a cab underflip then went for a front 10 but overshot the landing and I got a seriously bad dead leg which hurt for 2 days after! They took the top 6 from each heat and I came 5th in mine so I made it to the final. The
weather sucked on finals day super windy so we had to hit the medium jump I did cab under-flip to back 7 on them and that placed me 14 overall so stoked on that! Also well done to Aimee who won the women’s she killed it! and Jamie who cam 3rd in men’s and got best trick fro front blunt 450 out. Such a rad comp definitely want to go back next year!
At the weekend I went to the Kaunertal Opening with my dad, Birgit Rofner and Jamie Nicholls. They had little snow there so the park was really small a 5 metre jump, down rail, donkey kink and a massive gas pipe at the bottom. Friday was training all day and me and Jamie managed to do about 50 different tricks through out the day on the jump and the rails like 270’s, switch back 5’s, cab 1 back 5’s and back nose press front 1’s. It was such a rad day! Saturday was comp day and we had four runs to get one good jump run and a rail run we had four runs but they changed it to three runs and then back to four. I did cab-under-flip on the jump and cab 1 back 3 to tail-slide 270 on the gas-pipe. this run got me best rookie in the comp and I won 200 euros which I was stoked about!!! We drove back to Hoff that night and the next day was Hamish McKnight’s birthday and we did das spiel and had a barbecue.
I got back home from New Zealand last week. The weather wasn’t that good most of the time I was there which sucked but we made the most out of what we could. I rode a lot with Jamie Nicholls until he went home, we rode mostly on the rails. Will Nangle was out there for a few days so I got to film with him for a bit and got some cool shots! For a few days in a row Snowpark was closed because of the wind, it wasn’t fun being stuck in the house literally doing nothing. First day back up and it’s powder so sick getting to ride powder the whole day! On the last two days the weather was good so we got to ride the jumps but on the second to last day they didn’t shape the jumps so we had to make some lines on the first jump so that we could hit it. On the last day there was a bit of wind but we could still hit the jumps until the wind got stronger and it was to slow. I filmed this edit on the last day as well (thanks Billy and Katie)
I am riding Hintertux now until the end of October, can’t wait for the pro-line to be open it’s gonna be RAD!!!
Sorry I haven’t done a blog in while been pretty lazy with it to be honest. The last few months have been so much fun!!! Firstly I landed some new tricks a few months ago just before The Brits the first one was a front 10 which I was super stoked to have landed!
The next trick was nearer the end of the season in Mayrhofen and that was a back 10 also stoked to land this!
I went to Bear Mountain in California in April with Vans for a trip to get some photos. I went with Rich Hookes, Chris Chatt, Will Smith, James North and Will Nangle. It was a super fun trip by the best I have had, the park was so much fun just rail, after rail, after rail. We also found time to go to Six Flags Magic Mountain which was crazy some of the rides were insane!!!
I also went to the World Rookie Fest Finals in Ischgl which was good fun. The training day was super good bluebird weather so we could ride the jumps. The qualification day was awful weather with clouds on the course so they put on a rail jam which I won the grom category with this run in the video below. The next was finals but the weather was bad again but they decided that we should try and ride the jumps but I didn’t land my run so I was a bit gutted.
After this I came back to Cornwall for a week of school and then back out to Kaunertal for the Boardtest. The Boardtest was good fun the park was fun lots of rails and cool features and a few jumps which weren’t great to. I went and stayed with Vans again with Chatt, Dad, Victoria and Nicole. I had a really fun time there I rode a lot with Jamie Nicholls as usual but also with Chatt and Jonny Russel who I haven’t seen for ages so it was good to ride with him again. There was also the Whitelines rail jam which was fun I managed to get into the final but everyone who was in it killed it super high level of riding. Here is a clip from there.
From Kaunertal I went to Corvatsche in Switzerland just next door to St Moritz for an airbag session with the GB Team. I had a lot of fun there with everyone learning new tricks on to the airbag like double backflip, double rodeo 9, cab double 9 and back double 10. There was also a jump next to it which the tricks we learnt on the bag we could take to the jump but the jump wasn’t great it was about 16 metres and I did cab underflips and back rodeos as well. Everyone killed it at the session Billy Morgan did some cab double 10’s which is new for him. We had the whole resort to ourselves we were getting lifts to the top of the mountain of cats which was one of the mant things that made that trip awesome.
From there I then went straight to Kitzsteinhorn back in Austria for the Onboard send off session which was sick!!! I got invited from the Rookie Fest with to other rookies which were Micheal Scherrer and Fridtjof Tischendorf. There were also so many pros there as well like Marco Grilc, Marc Swoboda, Marku Koski and so many more. They had built a huge hip and jump for the shoot. The first day it had snowed over night so we just shredded powder all day which was rad. The Hotel was sick swimming pool, spa, super nice rooms and amazing food. The next day we sessioned a pole jam and hopefully I got some shots out of that. Then later on we rode the quarterpipe and got lifts up on the back of sleds which was amazing. Then on the final day we rode the jump and hip, the take-off of the jump was at least 5 metres high so it looked amazing for photos I just did some back 7’s and tried to style them as much as possible. The hip was my favourite session it was HUGE I had so much fun riding it going big and riding with all the pros and rookies!!!
Now I’m back in Cornwall at school again just studying for my GCSE tests which sucks can’t wait to go back riding 🙂
