Check out this Red Bull Mini shredit I filmed with Sebbe De Buck to see who can get the most points for most flips in Hintertux in one run!
Last week I got back from my trip down under it was a pretty fun trip riding in New Zealand and Australia, also going around Melbourne for a few days. The trip started off in New Zealand where I was there for just under 3 weeks, unfortunately Snow Park was closed this year which was pretty gutting as it was amazing last year but Cardrona was open and had a decent park. But the weather wasn’t kind pretty much the whole time I was there so I got about a day or two on the jumps which wasn’t too good, it just meant it was rails pretty much every day but they had a good rail line so it wasn’t too bad. After a few weeks I went over to Australia to meet up with the World Rookie Fest guys to go to Thredbo with them to compete in the Rookie Fest comp. They didn’t have a very good season for snow so they could only build two pretty small jumps and a couple of rails for the comp it was a fun little course in my run I did cab 1 on then back board to fakie, switch back 5, back 7 which got me 2nd in the rookie category which I was pretty happy with 🙂
The next day it was the practice day for The Mile High in Perisher which is another resort in Australia, Billy Morgan came over with Hamish and Katie Ormerod, Katie couldn’t compete because she had injured her knee in New Zealand. The course was a lot bigger and way more fun than the park in Thredbo I think they had more snow so the could build bigger jumps, the course was, down rail or donkey kink, flat bar or gap to down, pole jam, and then 3 jumps. I had a really good practice getting my run every time so i was happy with that also doing front 10’s and 9’s already was a bonus because it was just the start of the season for me and I was happy to be doing big tricks so early! My run in the comp was back lip, tailslide 270 out, 50-50 back 3 tail grab, back 5, cab 9, front 7, on my second run I fell over but I was happy with my first. Also well done to Billy Morgan who came 2nd in the slopestyle and 1st in the big air !
We then went to Melbourne for a few days and stayed with Hamish’s family. We first went to the Zoo and saw a lot of cool animals like snow leopards and lions. We also went into Melbourne centre and it’s massive and it was really busy but cool to look around somewhere different and to have some amazing sushi, we then headed to bounce which is a trampoline place and we messed about there for a couple of hours. On the last day we went to watch and Aussie Rules match which is definitely different to any sport in England and anywhere else. It was a really fun trip but glad to be back home now and getting ready to go shred Hintertux!!!
So as usual we spent October training up at Hintertux, the weather wasn’t great so we didn’t really get that many good days to work on new tricks, but somehow we still managed a 7 minute podcast(!) from the few days we did have ….. (sorry about the music !!)
My section starts @ 1:45 🙂
I got back home from New Zealand last week. The weather wasn’t that good most of the time I was there which sucked but we made the most out of what we could. I rode a lot with Jamie Nicholls until he went home, we rode mostly on the rails. Will Nangle was out there for a few days so I got to film with him for a bit and got some cool shots! For a few days in a row Snowpark was closed because of the wind, it wasn’t fun being stuck in the house literally doing nothing. First day back up and it’s powder so sick getting to ride powder the whole day! On the last two days the weather was good so we got to ride the jumps but on the second to last day they didn’t shape the jumps so we had to make some lines on the first jump so that we could hit it. On the last day there was a bit of wind but we could still hit the jumps until the wind got stronger and it was to slow. I filmed this edit on the last day as well (thanks Billy and Katie)
All of October I went up to Hintertux with the GB team and it was sick! The whole park is amazing up there especially the pro line two big mellow jumps in a row. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t that good for the month but on the days that we did get to ride it was rad. On the jumps I did some backside 3’s, 5’s and 7’s and also some frontside 3’s, 5’s and 7’s which I was stoked about because it was my first time spinning frontside on big jumps and I also got backside 7 to frontside 7 which was rad! Also on the medium jumps I learnt switch back 5’s which I have never done before so I was
stoked. Most of the time I was riding with Jamie Nicholls also I rode with Matt McCormick when he came out for a few days. During the last week Katie Ormerod came out and stayed with me so I rode with her some days on the mediums, she was riding sick as well. Then last Thursday I went to London Freeze Festival and we stayed in a pimping apartment. That night we went out and had the best steak in the world at a place called Santa Maria Del Sur. Then on Friday I rode in the Battle of Britain competition we only got 3 practice runs and on my second practice run I caught an edge and landed on the knuckle on my back but it didn’t hurt but it shook
me up a bit but I got back up and did it again. Then in the comp I did a method which everyone seemed to love so I was happy and I am glad that I did it. Dom Harington was there and he rode really well he got 2nd in the comp he also rode well in Hintertux when he stayed with me he was trying back double 10’s and almost landed them well done Dom. Also I got some rad new goggles from Adidas to wear in the comp they are the Adidas ID2 Pure they are sick thanks Adidas! On the Saturday it was the FIS comp and there was some sick riding just basically doubles every run. Ben Kilner did a sick back double 10 which he stomped and got through to the final. Jamie did the same trick and got through to the final as well! In the final Ben didn’t land his double but Jamie landed a back double 10 and a cab 10 and managed to get 4th well done to Ben and Jamie. The top 3 were Joris Ouwerkerk in 3rd then Seppe Smits in 2nd and Janne Korpi in first.
Tomorrow I am going to Kaunertal for the day with Tom West, Mark Ruparelia and some others then Stubai on Thursday its gonna be sick. But then I have to go back to school the week after which sucks!
I went to Castleford on Saturday for the British Snow Tour and the setup was sick but the format was rubbish you had to do 2 runs on boxes and 2 runs on rails it would of been better if it was 2 runs on whatever you wanted to hit instead of forcing people to ride boxes!!! I came 2nd in youth men and got some “sick” prizes, a 4 hour Sno!zone voucher and a whitelines subscription how rad is that ….. Then on Sunday I came back home to Mayrhofen which I was stoked about.
The past few days I have been riding with Jamie Nicholls and Mathias Weissenbacher (an Austrian shred master !!) the medium line is open and it is sick. They have built the pro line jumps and they are massive but look sick can’t wait to ride them!
There are already some pros up there like Torstein Horgmo and Markus Keller. I managed to snake Torstein on the gaspipe which was pretty funny. I have got some new boots which are the Celtek Hi-Standards and also I have a new board which is the Joe Sexton Pro Model and they are both sick so thanks Vans and Stepchild!
Yesterday I went up the mountain with my dad and Jamie and it was icy and on my second run to the bottom I got cut up by a skier and tried to stop but I couldn’t stop and bailed hard on the ice and bit my lip really bad so we came down 🙁
Also I did a little interview with Method Mag, it is in the first issue and it’s my 1st ever interview in a magazine so go and check it out it is a free mag and it can be found in your local snowboard shop!
Tomorrow is opening day at Tux so the whole park will be open can’t wait to get up there and ride, gonna be here all of October !!!
Here is a little edit me and my dad made it was over the good weather days in Hintertux and Kaunertal in May it has some rails and some bails so check it out if you haven’t seen it elsewhere already!!!!
Also we have just got back from Lake Garda in Italy it was good weather over the weekend so it was really hot! It’s a really nice place to go, you can go swimming in the lake, do some back flips into the lake eat lots of pizza and Ice Cream and see some fish! It’s crazy that is only three hours from Mayrhofen check out the pics!
About a week ago it snowed a good foot of snow so me and my dad went up to check it out and we were amazed how much it snowed we did a little bit of hiking and found a sick bit of powder it was so much fun but a bit weird to be riding it in May!
Also the Whitelines Rail Jam right up and video came out which I am in, it was such a fun rail jam and good week! So because it is summer here now it about 28 degrees nearly everyday so we have been going to Aschau a lot to swim in the lake and do some backflips of the bridge. I am going to Camp Of Champions on the 26th of June for a week I can’t wait! I am going for the Stepchild week so maybe I will meet the team! Also I am going back to England for all of August which I am also looking forward to I am going to do some surfing and some skating and then also I am going up to York for a few days to see all my friends which is going to be awesome!!!
Here are some pics and Whitelines report and video:
More Snowboarding Videos
Also here is Will Nangle’s Showreel from this season there are some sick shots so check it out!
The past 2 weeks have been really good fun I went up to Hintertux and met Tyler Chorlton up there we rode all day which was really good fun it was the first time I have rode with him so I was stoked!!! We were just cruising on the mediums because the big jumps weren’t ready yet so we just did some 5’s and 7’s, also whilst we were up there my dad took pics and got some video and he got some sick shots (pics at bottom of this post)!
Then last week it was the Boardtest which was way better than last year because the weather was so warm this year! The rail setup was insane it was about ten rails in a row which so much fun also they had two quite big jumps which were good fun. Most of the week I rode the rail line because it was so slushy for the jumps but also some days we got up early to ride the jumps so there was enough speed to clear it. I tested a few boards out which were good fun I tried the Stepchild Joe Sexton which is really soft so it was really easy to press and fun to ride. After that I tried the Lib Tech Mini Skate Banana which was also really soft but it was a fun board to ride. During the week I did a day photos with Whitelines on the jumps and then we built a little jump for a rock drop and got some shots on that so hopefully I got some shots! Also on the Sunday it was the Whitelines Rail Jam which was so much fun apart from hiking the rails in the hot weather, the setup was a down bar and a donkey kink.
I hit the the donkey the whole time just trying to get different tricks on it in the end I managed to get back lip, back board, front board and 50-50 back 3 out so I was stoked and then I managed to get through to the final which I was even more stoked about, but in the final I couldn’t get the tricks I wanted so I was a bit gutted also well done to Chris Chatt who came 3rd overall! It was a fun week apart from smashing my head on a rail on the last day so that was the only down to the week.
Here is a little video of a couple of tricks from the day with Tyler:
And here are a couple of pics:
Last week I had a few days off because it was bad weather but finally the weather cleared up so I went up to Hintertux with Rich Hookes. It wasn’t slushy up there but the snow was quite sticky but it didn’t
really matter that much, I hit the mediums for a bit and then moved to the smaller jumps to practice back rodeos! I fell a few times but also landed a few aswell which I was good. Then the next day I went up with my dad to practice them again I think I did 6 during the day and managed to land 4 of so that day I was even more stoked!!! Also that day we went and did a few runs to the middle station and on the way I hit a little cliff drop into some powder which was also really good fun! The next day I hit the mediums all day practicing front 5 into cab 5 I managed to get it nearly every time which is good, also during the past two days my dad came up and got some sick shots of everyone who was riding! Then today I practiced my rodeos which I landed and the front five to cab 5, so tomorrow I think i’m gonna try some front 7’s and see how it goes 🙂 It is definitely summer in Mayrhofen its just getting hotter and hotter everyday.
Here is the video of a few rodeos that I have done!
Also here is a video of Nelson Pratt that has just gone online check it out!!!
