All of October I went up to Hintertux with the GB team and it was sick! The whole park is amazing up there especially the pro line two big mellow jumps in a row. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t that good for the month but on the days that we did get to ride it was rad. On the jumps I did some backside 3’s, 5’s and 7’s and also some frontside 3’s, 5’s and 7’s which I was stoked about because it was my first time spinning frontside on big jumps and I also got backside 7 to frontside 7 which was rad! Also on the medium jumps I learnt switch back 5’s which I have never done before so I was
stoked. Most of the time I was riding with Jamie Nicholls also I rode with Matt McCormick when he came out for a few days. During the last week Katie Ormerod came out and stayed with me so I rode with her some days on the mediums, she was riding sick as well. Then last Thursday I went to London Freeze Festival and we stayed in a pimping apartment. That night we went out and had the best steak in the world at a place called Santa Maria Del Sur. Then on Friday I rode in the Battle of Britain competition we only got 3 practice runs and on my second practice run I caught an edge and landed on the knuckle on my back but it didn’t hurt but it shook
me up a bit but I got back up and did it again. Then in the comp I did a method which everyone seemed to love so I was happy and I am glad that I did it. Dom Harington was there and he rode really well he got 2nd in the comp he also rode well in Hintertux when he stayed with me he was trying back double 10’s and almost landed them well done Dom. Also I got some rad new goggles from Adidas to wear in the comp they are the Adidas ID2 Pure they are sick thanks Adidas! On the Saturday it was the FIS comp and there was some sick riding just basically doubles every run. Ben Kilner did a sick back double 10 which he stomped and got through to the final. Jamie did the same trick and got through to the final as well! In the final Ben didn’t land his double but Jamie landed a back double 10 and a cab 10 and managed to get 4th well done to Ben and Jamie. The top 3 were Joris Ouwerkerk in 3rd then Seppe Smits in 2nd and Janne Korpi in first.
Tomorrow I am going to Kaunertal for the day with Tom West, Mark Ruparelia and some others then Stubai on Thursday its gonna be sick. But then I have to go back to school the week after which sucks!
At the weekend Beckna told me that there was a comp on in Westendorf which I could go to and compete at. We arrived late and luckily I managed to get five practice runs in which I was stoked about. The course was a box into 2 jumps which were really good fun. My first run was really bad because I bailed on it, but then I landed my second run but I didn’t hold the grab for long enough on the 7, then finally I got the run I wanted which was Half-Cab 5-0, Back 3 Tail Grab and Back 7 Mute so I was stoked about because it was the first proper 7 I have done since breaking my collarbone! So in the rookies (under 18’s) I came 5th out of 11 overall so I am pretty stoked!
Then After That I went over to Tignes with Beckna to check it out. It was a ten hour drive so we got up early I was knackered, any way when we got there we unpacked and had food and then straight to bed. The next day I saw the Xgames course and Hamish, Jamie and Jenny. Then I went riding in the Tignes park with Ben Kilner and Scott McMorris which was a fun really day just messing around jibbing on the rails! The day after that I went riding with Mark Ruparelia for the day which was fun the weather was really bad it was really windy and bad light but we made the most out of it! Also whilst we were there Thrashmore was there building a mini-ramp which broke straight away! We then went back the next day.
We managed to get back in time for the Wangl Tangl team skate battle which was amazing to watch so many sick skaters people going huge doing big methods and stalefishes! But in the end the english team won it and they were by far the best team out there they were doing the same tricks side by side it was sick!!!
On Sunday I arrived at Breckenridge. I got a flight from Heathrow to Denver with Jamie Nicholls, Hamish McKnight, Sam Turnbull, Ben Kilner, Gregor Samuels, and Lewis Courtier Jones.
I had really bad jetlag the first day because I woke up at 5 o’clock in the morning and felt wide awake and then a few hours later all I wanted to do was sleep. I got my pass on the Monday and went and had some lunch with Jamie and it was freezing -20 at least!
Then on Tuesday we went for a shred it was really windy and really cold but we got on with it and rode the rails and kickers in the park and then everyone but me and Sam went down. We went and found some tree runs which were sick there were logs to jib on and some fresh snow in the trees aswell. Overall it was a good first day riding and hopefully there will be more to come !
The past few days haven’t been very good because the weather was really bad which meant that not much really happened apart from on the windy day I jumped in the river which was glacier water which was really cold. But today was sick because you could see the park and you could hit the kickers which were sick. Also the other night Hamish McKnight, Jenny Jones, Nick Atkins, Ben Kilner and Jo Howard all arrived. I only hit the mediums today because it was so hot it was all slushy and the snow at the restraunt had all melted away ! I did some back 3’s and back 5’s off them which I am stoked about. At about midday it got slow and I couldn’t clear the kickers. Also on the pro line people were busting out huge tricks like double back rodeo 1o’s and double corks and I saw a backside 1260 which looked sick. Should be good tomorrowbecause it is going to be sunny again which means that it will be kickers all day which will be sick!!!
