I got an invite back to the 13th Red Bull Nanshan Open in China. This year the trip was so sick other than my bag not turning up for a few days. We were in Beijing for the first part of the trip and visited the Wall again and saw a lot of Beijing. One morning we got on the Bus over to Nanshan for the practice, it was really windy so we couldn’t hit the jumps but the rail setup was really fun so just got to ride that. I rode with Mons Roisland and Micheal Schaerer most of the time. The next day was the qualification, the weather was way better so we got to ride the jumps for the first time, I didn’t land my first run but i got my second and that put me through to the semi finals which was the next day. It was really bad light for the semis I landed my run which was cab double 9, front 7, front blunt 270 into back blunt 270, I got and 87 and qualified in 3rd for the finals. I did the same run in the finals and got 3rd place!!! I was so stoked to get third at such a fun comp with some really good riders!
Been a busy past few weeks with a few competitions one after the other, the first comp being the Shred Down Austrian Masters Slopestyle in Westendorf. The comp went over two days again the first day was on the rails and then the second day on the jumps. The first day went pretty good got my run on the rails, cab 1 back 3, back blunt 270 out, front board 270 that run put me 2nd overall, then on the jumps the next day I did, cab double 9 to back 7, then cab double 9 to back double 10 but just did a little but check on the 10 but still landed it. They added the scores up and I won the rookie category and the overall category so I was pretty stoked to win both!
Here’s the video:
The next comp was the Spring Battle over in Flachauwinkl this year was the first time the comp had done open qualifications so why not go and give it a go. They built a decent sized jump at the top and there were some pretty good riders in the qualis, I had coach Billy Morgan there helping me out he was invited so I wanted to get through to ride with him I managed to land back double 10 in the comp and that put me in 9th to qualify through to the semis so that made my day! The next day was training for all the invited riders I landed my back 10 again and Billy did back triple 14 to get through to the finals. I ended up 17th overall which isn’t to bad with all the guys who were there, Billy ended up winning it with a back triple 16 which was perfect so huge well done to him!!!
My runs from qualis:
The most recent comp was the Vans Hi-Standard on Saturday here in Mayrhofen, it was such a fun comp nothing over a 7 on the jump and all based on style and then a rail jam on the stairset, all the Vans UK crew were out so it was fun riding with all them again. I managed to win the overall category here as well so it was a pretty good day, won some money and had a awesome day what more could you want! We filmed an edit the day before because the weather was meant to come in so we played it safe and filmed that day instead, hope you enjoy it !
Heres the video from the comp:
Last week I got back from my trip down under it was a pretty fun trip riding in New Zealand and Australia, also going around Melbourne for a few days. The trip started off in New Zealand where I was there for just under 3 weeks, unfortunately Snow Park was closed this year which was pretty gutting as it was amazing last year but Cardrona was open and had a decent park. But the weather wasn’t kind pretty much the whole time I was there so I got about a day or two on the jumps which wasn’t too good, it just meant it was rails pretty much every day but they had a good rail line so it wasn’t too bad. After a few weeks I went over to Australia to meet up with the World Rookie Fest guys to go to Thredbo with them to compete in the Rookie Fest comp. They didn’t have a very good season for snow so they could only build two pretty small jumps and a couple of rails for the comp it was a fun little course in my run I did cab 1 on then back board to fakie, switch back 5, back 7 which got me 2nd in the rookie category which I was pretty happy with 🙂
The next day it was the practice day for The Mile High in Perisher which is another resort in Australia, Billy Morgan came over with Hamish and Katie Ormerod, Katie couldn’t compete because she had injured her knee in New Zealand. The course was a lot bigger and way more fun than the park in Thredbo I think they had more snow so the could build bigger jumps, the course was, down rail or donkey kink, flat bar or gap to down, pole jam, and then 3 jumps. I had a really good practice getting my run every time so i was happy with that also doing front 10’s and 9’s already was a bonus because it was just the start of the season for me and I was happy to be doing big tricks so early! My run in the comp was back lip, tailslide 270 out, 50-50 back 3 tail grab, back 5, cab 9, front 7, on my second run I fell over but I was happy with my first. Also well done to Billy Morgan who came 2nd in the slopestyle and 1st in the big air !
We then went to Melbourne for a few days and stayed with Hamish’s family. We first went to the Zoo and saw a lot of cool animals like snow leopards and lions. We also went into Melbourne centre and it’s massive and it was really busy but cool to look around somewhere different and to have some amazing sushi, we then headed to bounce which is a trampoline place and we messed about there for a couple of hours. On the last day we went to watch and Aussie Rules match which is definitely different to any sport in England and anywhere else. It was a really fun trip but glad to be back home now and getting ready to go shred Hintertux!!!
Last Friday was the first day of competition of the Austrian Shred Down Masters Slopestyle in Westendorf. The format was the first day was the jumps and the second day was the rails, the weather was perfect for the jump day, it was so hot and super slushy meaning it was a bit slower into the jumps. We did our practice and then we had three runs to get the best run possible. The jump course was a box into two jumps, my best run was board-slide to switch, cab 9, back 7 and I landed that first run so I was happy about that I then just took it easy on the next two runs and did cab under-flips off the first jump. The next day was rubbish weather it was really cloudy and snowing but it was OK because it was rails and the line was down flat down, down rail and then an up rail or a wall ride my best run was gap to board-slide, cab 270, switch board-slide on the up rail. I came first in my category which is the under 18’s which I was super stoked with as it was my second win at this competition! I also ended up 5th overall! Here are some photos and the video from the event.
This is the video of the whole event
This is the video of my runs
On Sunday it was the Hotzone Groms Open in Mayrhofen in the Vans Penken Park. We had an hour of training and the course was down rail/box and two jumps, the weather was pretty rubbish during practice really flat light so couldn’t see a lot but when the practice finished the clouds burned off and it was perfect conditions! The qualifications was a jam format and the judges said they wanted to see style more than anything so, I just did as many runs as I could doing the most stylish tricks I could. They put the top eight riders through to the final in a three run best run counts format. My best run was cab 270 to regs, frontside under-flip into a cab 9 in the end that was enough to get me first place overall, 400 euros, Vans outerwear and an invite to the World Rookie Fest Finals in Ischgl! The video of the comp will be out pretty soon! My next comp is the Rookie Fest in Livingo hope it’s not to cold and the weather is nice 🙂
and rode some powder for a few days with Tom West and Cheryl Maas which was so much fun! Me, my dad and Jamie Nicholls left Mayrhofen on Wednesday night to Dachstein because Thursday was an all day practice. The course was quite small about a 7 metre jump to a 13 metre jump to either a flat rail or a rainbow rail and then a wall-ride. I had a sick day practice riding with Jamie Nicholls, Aimee Fuller, Cheryl Maas and Mathias Weissenbacher. Next day was qualification and I was in heat 3 my 1st run was cab under-flip, front 7, tail-slide 270 and 50-50 back 3 over the wall-ride which score
d me 62. On my second run I did a cab underflip then went for a front 10 but overshot the landing and I got a seriously bad dead leg which hurt for 2 days after! They took the top 6 from each heat and I came 5th in mine so I made it to the final. The
weather sucked on finals day super windy so we had to hit the medium jump I did cab under-flip to back 7 on them and that placed me 14 overall so stoked on that! Also well done to Aimee who won the women’s she killed it! and Jamie who cam 3rd in men’s and got best trick fro front blunt 450 out. Such a rad comp definitely want to go back next year!
At the weekend I went to the Kaunertal Opening with my dad, Birgit Rofner and Jamie Nicholls. They had little snow there so the park was really small a 5 metre jump, down rail, donkey kink and a massive gas pipe at the bottom. Friday was training all day and me and Jamie managed to do about 50 different tricks through out the day on the jump and the rails like 270’s, switch back 5’s, cab 1 back 5’s and back nose press front 1’s. It was such a rad day! Saturday was comp day and we had four runs to get one good jump run and a rail run we had four runs but they changed it to three runs and then back to four. I did cab-under-flip on the jump and cab 1 back 3 to tail-slide 270 on the gas-pipe. this run got me best rookie in the comp and I won 200 euros which I was stoked about!!! We drove back to Hoff that night and the next day was Hamish McKnight’s birthday and we did das spiel and had a barbecue.
About a week ago it snowed a good foot of snow so me and my dad went up to check it out and we were amazed how much it snowed we did a little bit of hiking and found a sick bit of powder it was so much fun but a bit weird to be riding it in May!
Also the Whitelines Rail Jam right up and video came out which I am in, it was such a fun rail jam and good week! So because it is summer here now it about 28 degrees nearly everyday so we have been going to Aschau a lot to swim in the lake and do some backflips of the bridge. I am going to Camp Of Champions on the 26th of June for a week I can’t wait! I am going for the Stepchild week so maybe I will meet the team! Also I am going back to England for all of August which I am also looking forward to I am going to do some surfing and some skating and then also I am going up to York for a few days to see all my friends which is going to be awesome!!!
Here are some pics and Whitelines report and video:

Also here is Will Nangle’s Showreel from this season there are some sick shots so check it out!
On Friday me, my dad, Chris Chatt, Rich Hookes and Beckna all flew to Scotland for Vans Dawn of the Shred it was my first time back in the UK so it felt a bit weird. Every morning I would have sausage and beans which were really nice then I went up the mountain. On Saturday it was the comp we got up there and they were still shaping everything so we could only do some normal runs. It also started to get really windy up there and a bit cold so the fog kept coming and going. They finally opened the rails and we could ride them. Practice went on and then it came to the comp we did 2 kicker runs and then 1 rail run, my best kicker run was front 3 melon to back 3 tail the kickers were small so you couldn’t do much. Then on the rails I did back lip, tail-slide 270 out, 50-50 front lip and then 50-50 back 3 on the up rail and landed flat and fell. In the end I came 2nd in my category so I was stoked!!! Well done to Sam Turnbull for winning the open category!
The next day I went up to meet Matt McCormick and Angus Trinder. Over night so many rocks had come through they had to move the blue gas pipe so it was a flat pipe which sucked, because once you landed that you had to ollie a load of rocks and as soon as you landed you would be on the kicker for the next rail. I had such a fun last day just jibbing and messing around because everything was so sketchy then in the last half hour of the day me, Matt and Angus tried some stuff on the tyre I tried some back rodeos but kept washing out on them and Matt and Angus did some backflips I was stoked that I finally tried rodeos on a jump, it was such a fun day. In the evening we went round to Gregor Samuels house for some Haggis it was really good! Also it was really good to see Gregor walking around and chatting away, he was a guest judge aswell so he was walking around on the hill climbing up the landing of the jump doing all sorts which was really good to see! So a BIG thanks to the Samuels for an amazing tea!
I am back in the Hoff now and I checked the webcam and there is barely any snow left so the park is shut so it’s time to go up to Tux!
1 week has past and it has been a good week. I went to Ispo and saw all the new Vans Outerwear and Casual wear and everything looks so sick!!! Also I went to see everyone else like Grenade, Adidas, Stepchild and Giro. Whilst I was at the Stepchild stand I met Sean Johnson who is the person who setup and owns Stepchild so it was really cool to meet him. Also when I was there I met Danny Kass which was pretty cool I was stoked! Everyones gear looks amazing for next season 🙂
Also this week I went to watch the Munich Air and Style which was better than Innsbruck! First it was the final of the Nike 6.0 Stair set Battle which was an amazing comp to watch Jamie Nicholls was in it and he was killing it with some sick tricks like cab 270 gap on the down flat down and then the trick that got him 2nd place front blunt danish back on back one out which was stomped. Also tricks like cab over 270 to regs were getting thrown down. Well done Nicholls!
Then there was the Air and Style which was pretty good. Peetu won it with a cab 12 and Seppe came 2nd with a cab 12 and Halldor came 3rd with a back double 10. There was an amazing standard Seb Toots doing cab double 12’s and Halldor trying back double rodeo 10 japan which was mental. It was crazy! Werni Stock did some sick switch back 12’s and some front double 10’s and the smashed his head on the rail which looked horrible. Overall both comps were amazing to watch!
The next two weeks will be full of boredom 🙁
