All about riding at Halifax

FBBB Landgraaf

This week I rode at Fax first and took a big slam which really hurt my shoulder but is is ok now I went with Jordan Gee. After Fax I went and stayed at Jordan’s house. We then went to Chill Factor and rode there which was ok because there were only two rails out which sucked. Then on the Friday it was Subjam at Cas which was fun because it was a good setup down bar to 10 metre to high box to side on box. I learnt front 1 on cab 1 out on the down bar I also got backside 450 on 270 out on the high box and back 1 on switch back 1 out on the side on box so I am pretty stoked about. Then straight after that me my dad and Jordan went to Landgraaf for FBBB it was a sick park with some big kickers and lots of rails. It was a fun event because Landgraaf is such a big slope I got some back 7’s of the kickers and more I learnt front 1 on to switch 5-0 o the down bar which is sick. Also my dad did the small jumps in the park which was cool. It was such a great weekend I had lots of fun riding there. Check out the video from the event !

FBBB at Cas Vegas

Last week was another good week I went to Fax on the Tuesday and got two new tricks which are back 7 tail grab and cork back 7 mute which I was so stoked about. Faye and her dad were there as well taking few picks which was sick he got some pretty sick shots. Thursday was fun at Cas because the setup was good and also we sessioned the yellow gas pipe on the mini slope also we did a shredit which is pretty sick. Then on Friday it was FBBB at Cas which was a sick park two down bars and a sick kicker I got back 7’s of it and cab 5’s and more I rode with Jordan Gee all night. It was a sick night and they made a sick video, check out my cab 5 in the video below, 42 seconds in !

Westbeach Halifax!

This week was pretty sick it started of at Halifax I rode with Jordan Gee and I got backside 720’s dialed which I was so stoked about then after fax I went to Jordan’s house to stay. The night after Fax we went to Chill Factor for a session which ended up to be pretty sick even though there were only 3 rails out I got cab 1 on back 3 out on the down bar and I also got back 1 on cab 3 out on the high box.

After Chill we went to Cas which was a fun night as well and Keith Povah was back riding which was good to see. We did a Shredit that night to I rode with Jordan, Keith, Big Charlie and many more. Then Jordan came and stayed at our house for 2 nights. The next night at Cas was just as good also Danny McCormick, Matt McCormick and Pete Meadows were all there as well so it was fun to ride with them because I don’t get to see them alot.

Then on Saturday it was the Westbeach Snowflex Series at Halifax it was a really warm day so the slope wasn’t running to fast but they put loads of water on the kicker which helped alot. I got to the final of the 16 and unders category which I was stoked about I got my 7’s on the day which I was stoked about. also I got corked back 7’s on the day which was sick! In the final it was me, Matt McCormick and Pete Meadows I didn’t land my first run which I was a bit disappointed about but on my second run I landed my corked back 7 which was so pleased about. In the end I came 3rd Pete came 2nd and Matt came 1st so well done to Matt and Pete also Danny McCormick came 2nd in his category so well done to him as well. In the over 16’s it was Col Mytton in 3rd Danny in 2nd and Andy Nudds in 1st.

I had a sick week this week and well done to everyone at Halifax!

HOME :(

I flew back from the One  Snowboarding camp in France with Jamie Nicholls, Sophie Nicholls and Katie Ormerod, we landed at Stanstead and my dad gave us all a lift home. It sucks being back there is nothing to do ! there is no luge or volleyball, it rains most of time it just sucks!

I went to Halifax for the first time in about a month or two last week, it was good fun, really fast and it poured down for about 10 minutes. This week I’m going to Cas on Thursday and Friday and then on Saturday I’m going to Milton Keynes for FBBB with Jordan Gee.

Sunday I’m going to France for a week but not to go snowboarding which sucks 🙂 I’m going with my family and my Uncle Nigel and my Auntie Jo. I’m looking forward to go on holiday again it should be good fun!

This weeks Shred ….

This week I went to Halifax twice. On Tuesday it was quite slow but it was still fun because it wasn’t windy and you could still get enough speed for the kicker. I rode with Sam Turnbull, it started to get foggy at the end which made it a bit faster. Then the next day it was really windy so I kept getting blown across when I hit the kicker which wasn’t very fun but it was still a good night.

Cas on Thursday was a good park because it was bits of the set up for the Standingsideways Sessions for the next night. I learnt frontside 270 onto the side on down box I also learnt frontside 360 on frontside 180 out which I am stoked about. Then on Friday it was the Standingsideways Sessions with features from Jonny Russell, Dom Harington and Stu Edwards. Dom had the pipe of mild peril, Stu had a perfect down bar and Jonny had a kicker to a spine to a down box which was called a Rythmic Razmataz. Overall it was a really good night and the best park we have had at Cas for ages, cant wait for Damo to do another one !

Saturday at Milton Keynes was another big air competition which was also good fun the kickers weren’t the best but it was still good because I rode with Jordan Gee. I landed all my tricks all night and got through to the final, I also landed both my final runs which were a back 3 tail grab and then and backside 540, which in the end was enough to come 3rd overall (all age groups) and won some money which I am stoked about!!!

I’m sure there will be some write ups on both events and I’ll post them here when they come out 🙂

Park Strife !

This week went to Fax, Chill Factore and Cas. Fax was quite slow but fun did some 5’s and 3’s and I rode with Sam Turnbull who came as well for the first time in ages. Then on Wednesday we went to Slide 2010 which was cool. I saw all next seasons gear from Rome, Grenade, Stepchild, Head and loads more. The next years Rome Label’s (my board) graphics are sick and also it is reverse free camber which is different to this years model, also Grenade’s gloves and gear look amazing for next season and the Stepchild graphics look wicked. Grenade gave me some sponsor stuff which is all sick!!! Then we went to Chill factore and saw Jordan Gee and Charlie Clarke. The kicker was good and Charlie taught me backside 540 stalefish which is sick! Went to Cas Thursday and Friday. Thursday was fun they had some wooden features out which was cool and we made a little shredit. Then on Friday it was Parkstrife at Cas and the theme was wood so everything was made out of wood which was cool. At the top there was a wooden spine that you had to ollie ridiculously high to get on top, I managed it and it was defo my biggest ollie ever !!. I rode with Sam, Dom, Jonny and Beanz which was fun and it was nice to see Dom but he tweaked his bad ankle so he went home early which was rubbish 🙁 But overall it was fun night and a fun week 🙂 (thanks Tim for sorting us out).

UPDATE: Here is the write up from fear of the park on the event, sick pic’s really like the one of me coming on the pole jib thing !

Here is the shredit for this week 🙂

Back home ….

After the BEO I came back home and am back to riding at  Cas and Halifax again.

Last Tuesday I went Halifax for the first time again and the kicker was TINY compared to the BEO kickers !!! That night I tried corked back 5 mutes but didn’t land any. Went to fax again the day after and tried some more corked 5’s and still didn’t get them :(.

Then we went to Cas for the first time this year and saw Jonny Russell, Alec and Gary, it was good but it felt weird compared to the mountain because of the snow, it felt slow but it was fun. Jonny taught me backside 5-o frontside 180 out (check out the video below) !!! We went to Cas again on the Friday and I learnt backside 270 on to the side on box.

I want to say a massive well done to Jamie Nicholls at the BEO for getting through pre qualifying then qualifying then semi-finals to the final and placing 13th overall!!!!!!! so a BIG well done to Jamie, check out the video of his runs below.

And finally, another video from the Onesnowboarding camp has been released and put on Whitelines (all of the videos from the riders on the camp are here, check em out!) it’s been done by Stewart Monk who’s based in Morzine and I hope we can do some more stuff with him soon 🙂

My Vid from the camp in Morzine:

And finally some rail fun back as Cas:

First Snow of the Season !!

Tuesday I went to fax (first time in a couple of weeks), when I arrived it looked like it was raining but then I realised it was proper snowing!!! which meant it was really fast.

Then on Wednesday we went to Cas for a big park but it was really busy with students which meant I didn’t get loads of runs 🙁 I got to ride with Mark Raper and Boxy which was fun though!

On Thursday and Friday I went to Cas again to shred, same park as Wednesday. It was another couple of  fun nights the best run I did was 360 hand plant to back 3 to front 3 to 180 on cab 1 out on the big gas pipe !

On Saturday I went to Tamworth with Katie Ormerod, Mark Ormerod and my dad for the Santa Cruz Rookie Night. It was a fun night and a good setup they had like a 6ft wall ride with a box on top which was fun. I didn’t get through to the final but Katie did and did an amazing run but didn’t win. But overall a good night!

UPDATE: Fear of the Park article on the night can be found here, check the pics there’s a great one of me frontsidin the wall ride !

This week no comps just shredding at Fax and Cas and then I will be going to Morzine on Sunday which will be so much fun!!!

UPDATE: Here are some pics from the event that have just come through.

Friday fun ….

Rowan @ Fax Photo MergeOn Friday got to ride at Halifax with Dom Harington who is also sponsored by Animal.

He brought with him a guy called Luke to take some pictures and another sick rider called Dan. I can’t wait to see the pictures that Luke got, my dad took some that you can see here. Dom and Dan were killing it to say they haven’t ridden dry slope for ages, Dom was doing some corked 7’s and 5’s also he did a back flip on his 3rd run!!! Dan was doing some crazy stuff like back flip 180’s, back flips and some front 3’s!!!

UPDATE: Here are Lukes pics, I like em 🙂

My dad left the camera running all day to capture all the tricks we did!!!

When we finished at Fax we headed down to the Burton Scrap Metal, the drive down there was rubbish we were stuck in queues all the way down there we still managed to get down there on time though. When I went on to the slope I found  Jordan Gee to shred with which was good fun but the park was a bit mental with huge gaps onto the side on rails. I managed to get on to one of them and front board it. The winner of the women’s category was Katie Omerod who was riding really well doing front blunt 270 outs on the down bar which looked sick. In the men’s category it was Si Foster in 3rd place, then a guy called George Wooley but in first place was Johnny Russell who landed a a sick backside 360 on to the down bar. So overall it was a good night!!!

That night we stayed over in Hemel Hemsted. My dad drove up a spiral road to the car park but it was closed so he had to reverse all the way back down it LOL. The next day we went home thinking it would take us 3 hours but the it ended up taking us about 7 hours!!!

Foggyfax

Faxface
Halifax Muck on my face

Last night we went over to Halifax to practice on the kicker, it was really foggy but not too windy which was cool, it was also wet which made it nice and quick.

I was practicing my 540’s which I can now land most of the time, so I’m stoked about that !

Only a couple more days till I’m back to Halifax to and then go down to Hemel for the Burton Scrap Metal 🙂

A little video below showing how foggy it was !
